Bangladesh Chhatra League – pro-government student body – announced its long awaited full phase committee of 301 members after a year of national council.
The council was held between May 11-12 last year.
On Monday, afternoon a press release signed by Chhatra League President Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and General Secretary Golam Rabbani disclosed the other names of new 299 leaders.
Shovon-Rabbani selected as ruling party’s student wing leaders on July 31 last year by the mother party chief and Premier Sheikh Hasina.
In the committee, one president, 61 vice-presidents, one general secretary, 11 joint-secretary, 11 organizing secretaries, 32 different affairs secretaries, 126 deputy secretaries under those 32, 47 assistant secretaries and 11 members.
Meanwhile, following the announcement of Bangladesh Chhatra League’s 29th full phase committee, the party men burst out into protest at the streets and madhur canteen of Dhaka University (DU).
Some activists demanded they were not getting space to the committee despite they were industrious and loyal to party.
And some claimed they deserve more ‘prestigious’ or vital post.
At 8:00pm deprived BCL leaders arranged a press conference at Madhur Canteen, at that time followers of BCL president and general secretary attacked on them. At least fifteen deprived BCL men were injured during the factional clash.
Witness said, the clash ensued when deprived BCL leaders were holding a press conference at the canteen rejecting the newly announced committee. Suddenly, follower of BCL central president Rezwanul Haque Chowdhury Shovon and general secretary Golam Rabbani carried out the attack on them, claimed Saif Babu, former publicity secretary of BCL central committee.
He further said that former BCL sub finance committee secretary also Dhaka University Central Student Union member Tilottoma Shikder, DUCSU’s sports affairs secretary Tanvir Bhuyian Shakil, Common room and cafeteria affairs secretary and Rokeya hall unit BCL president BM Lipi Akhter, Rokeya Hall unit BCL general secretary Sraboni Disha also injured among others during the clash.
All were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, said Saif Babu.
