BCL men vandalise RU students’ room

Some leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, vandalised a room on Friday night at Shaheed Suhrawardy Hall of Rajshahi University over a trifling matter.
According to hall sources, RU BCL Assistant Secretary Arman Kaisar Abir vandalised the room of Md Jibon Joardar for taking wifi connection from a router to his room.
Sources said that a masters’ student of political science department Jibon, used to reside at 415 no room of the hall. He recently took a broadband connection from a wifi router to his room.
Following that matter, BCL leader Abir, a final year student of law department on Friday night called Jibon to his room to know why he took the wifi connection, making an altercation between them, sources also added.
Later, Abir along with a group of leaders and activists went to Jibon’s room and then vandalized the room. At that time Jibon was not present there.
Jibon told The New Nation that he took broadband connection from the wifi router as there was no any wifi connection at their block.
After the incident he also alleged that his mobile, laptop and moneybag were missing and he would lodge a complaint in this connection with the hall provost.
However, Abir denied the allegation of vandalising the room.
Prof M Anisur Rahman, the Hall Provost said that the new provost of the hall would take charge tomorrow (Saturday) and then they would take proper steps against the accused after talking with the new provost.
