The former leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Islamic University (IU) unit in Kushtia demonstrated on the campus on Sunday demanding removal of the university’s proctor, Professor M Mahbubar Rahman.
Over one hundred BCL leaders and activists went to the university’s main entrance and locked up it at around 1:50pm, witnesses said.
Later, they marched towards the administrative building chanting slogans against the proctor. The movement of university bus remained suspended triggering suffering to the teachers, employees and students of the university.
Meanwhile, after being contacted IU proctor Professor M Mahbubar Rahman told UNB that BCL men stood against him as he has declared to remove drugs and outsiders from the university within seven days.
IU Vice-Chancellor Professor M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari said that they were trying to resolve the matter through discussion with the BCL men.
