Six Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men of Dhaka University (DU) unit asked for apology after beating two DU students and also activists of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.
They asked for forgiveness at a press conference held at Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA)’s conference room on Monday.
The six BCL men said that they were personally responsible for the attack. They did this out of misunderstanding; BCL is not any responsible for this.
The six BCL activists are Tanzir Arafat Tushar, student of International Relations Department, Hadayet Ullah, student of Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Itteja Hasan Rakib, student of Political Science Department, Abdullah Al Masrur, student of Population Science Department, Sumon Ali and Rokanuzzaman, students of Islamic History and Culture Department.
Akram Hossain, general secretary of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad DU unit and Anas Bin Monir, Co-founder of Students Against Torture (SAT), were present at the press conference on behalf of Chhatra Odhikar Parishad.
”It is a beautiful example. They have realised their mistake and apologised. Those who attacked are also our brothers. We have forgiven them. I hope that in the future Chhatra League workers will not torture any student on the campus,” Akram Hossain said.
