Awami League (AL) general secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday said that Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) workers must work for making the organization popular to general students.
“Discipline, behaviour and merit should be the qualifications of BCL workers, and not for flattering senior leaders” he said.
He passed the remarks as the chief guest at BCL Dhaka University (DU) Hall Units council held at the altar of the Aparajeyo Bangla of DU.
BCL DU unit organized the first-ever hall units council.
DU Bangabandhu Hall unit BCL President Darus Salam Shakil chaired the function, while BCL DU unit President Abid Al Hasan inaugurated the function. AL Joint-Secretary Mahbub Ul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, BCL Central President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Jakir Hossain spoke as the special guest. BCL DU unit General Secretary Motahar Hossain Prince spoke as the main speaker.
Obaidul Quader urged the leaders and the activists of BCL to devote themselves to ideology, which will be evaluated as their qualities.
The minister also urged the BCL activists to do their jobs and to help general students and people in time.
He, however, said BCL should remain alert so that none could tarnish the image of the government by penetrating into the organization.
Denouncing BNP’s remarks about Narayanganj city polls, Mahbub UL Hanif said, The BNP always raises the points of level playing field during election. It is their bad practice.
Applauding BCL council, Jahangir Kabir Nanak said, “DU BCL council and committees in different departments of the university will be helpful in making Bangladesh a country sans militancy”
