BCL men form human chain demanding punishment to CU teacher

“We have given seven days to Chattogram University administration. We will not take action against the teacher within seven days. We have confidence on CU administration.
If the administration will not take action against the CU teacher Maidul Islam for making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook, we will be forced to go stern movement. “
The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League of Chittagong University chapter made these remarks at a Human Chain led by CU BCL former president Mohammad Alamgir Tipu in front of CU Bangabandhu Chattar around 1:30pm on Wednesday.
Earlier, CU BCL former Executive Member Md Ifterkhar Uddin Ayaz sued against Maidul Islam under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act with Hathazari Model Thana.
Earlier, Maidul Islam, assistant professor of sociology, along with Khandakar Ali Ar Raji, assistant professor of journalism was declared as persona non grata on campus after putting status supporting quata movement.
CU BCL submitted a memorandum to CU VC claiming permanent impeachment of the two teachers.
After one day, Students and teachers of Sociology and Communication and Journalism department were trying to form a human chain protesting the BCL allegation.
The leaders and activists of BCL assaulted some students and foiled the human chain in front of Social Science Faculty.
Maidul Islam left the campus along with his family on July 15 after Chhatra League men issued public threats directing him and his family.Seeking security, he notified the matter to university authorities on Tuesday, a group of teachers and employees under banner Bangabandhu Parishad demonstrated at campus demanding punishment of the teacher.
