A number of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders, student wing of AL, beat up a traffic police at Paltan area in the capital on Friday afternoon.
The BCL leader was identified as Badiuzzaman Sohag, holding post of central executive committee president. The incident
took place when he along with his partymen were joining a protest rally of bullet hit AL leader Shamim.
Witnesses said, microbus that was carrying the BCL leaders, was trying to cross the GPO traffic point violating traffic signal; the constable intercepted the vehicle.
As the traffic police intercepted the vehicle of BCL leader and other party activists started to beat up the constable.
The injured police constable Mamun was admitted to Rajarbagh police lines hospital.
A tension was prevailing among other police officials in the spot, locals said.
