BCL men attack transport employees at Benapole

Commuters at Benapole land port had to endure untold sufferings due to an indefinite transport protesting at the attack on their fellows over a sudden feud. The strike was started on Saturday early morning.
Rabin Kumar, manager, Green Line Paribahan told that the indefinite transport strike call was announced from a joint meeting of the officials of different transports and transport workers protesting at the attack on transport workers by Bangladesh Chhatra League men on Friday afternoon. ‘The strike will be continued till our demands are met,’ he added, ‘A case was lodged with Benapole port police station in this connection on Saturday.’
Apurba Hasan, officer in-charge, Benapole port police station told that the police were trying to find a solution. ‘The law enforcement agency men also trying to round up the attackers,’ he added.
Transport workers alleged that their fellow Mohon, Jamal, Alal and Liakat were beaten up from a procession of Bangladesh Chhatra League on Friday afternoon following a sudden feud as transports along the Benapole -Jessore Highway disrupt it. The BCL men also ransacked the Benapole based counter of Green Line Paribahan. Transport employees sat on a meeting after the attack and took the decision to go for an indefinite strike from Saturday early morning on Friday night.
Several hundred India returnee travelers were seen stranded at Benapole due to the strike.
