Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists beat up a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader at Jahangirnagar University (JU) on Monday citing harassment of a female student by him.
Witnesses said a group of 4-5 BCL men of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall unit swooped on JCD leader Rabbi Hasan around 3:30 pm and beat him with iron rods and sticks in the presence of JU BCL unit cultural affairs secretary Abdul Quiyum Bipul in front of the Jahir Raihan Auditorium.
Rabbi, joint convener of the hall unit of JCD, told UNB that he has been attacked by Asif, Shamim and other BCL activists on political grounds.
BCL leader Asif Ahmed admitted that Rabbi was beaten up by them.
Rabbi was beaten up because he pestered a female student by sending SMS, Asif Alleged.
JU proctor Tapan Kumar Saha said steps will be taken in accordance with the allegations.
Mentionable, the same attackers beat up Rabbi Hasan about a month ago on allegation that he tore off a portrait of Bangabandhu.
