BCL leader’s tendons severed in C’nawabganj

Miscreants chopped a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and cut off the tendons of his legs and hands in Nababganj Government College gate area of the district town on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Nahid Shikder, organising secretary of the district unit of the ruling Awami League’s student body and son of Abul Kalam Azad, a resident of Barik Bazar area in Shibganj upazila. Jasim Uddin, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Nahid came under an attack by a group of miscreants in the Collage Gate area at about 10:30 pm while he was retuning home. The attackers swooped on him and chopped him indiscriminately.
At one stage, they severed the tendons of his two legs and two hands and fled the scene.
Hearing Nahid’s screams, local people rescued him.
Nahid was first admitted to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) as his condition deteriorated.
