BCL leaders denounce militancy, secret killings

Leaders of the district and city units of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at two separate post-procession rallies on Monday strongly denounced the BNP-Jamaat-backed terrorism, militancy and secret killings.
Hundreds of BCL leaders and activists, wearing black badges, brought out two protest processions in observance of the two-day national mourning to pay due homage to the 20 hostages killed by militants at a Dhaka cafe on Friday night.
The district unit of BCL brought out the protest procession from its office premises in Batar Goli Moor here which paraded the city’s main thoroughfares. Following the procession a rally was brought out by BCL. Presided over by President of district unit of BCL Mehedee Hassan Siddique Rony, its General Secretary Rakibul Hassan Kanon moderated the post-procession students’ rally.
Senior Vice-president of district BCL Shamim Sarder, its Vice-presidents Shariful Islam Sharif, Shahinul Islam Gazi, Sharif Islam, Zinnat Hossain Lavlu, Mottalib Hossain, Atikul Hassan, Shihab Chowdhury and Rabbi Hassan, its Joint Secretaries Masud Ahmed, Monir Hossain, Mohaiminul Hasib and Mostafa Parvez Zion, Organising Secretaries Adnan Hossain, Abu Hossain and Nur Mohammad, Publicity Secretary Mokhtar Elahi Murad and Office Secretary Al Amin, among others, addressed.
Besides, the city unit of BCL brought out another protest procession from the district Awami League (AL) office before gathering at the students’ rally in front of Press Club premises after parading the main city streets. With President of city unit of BCL Shafiur Rahman Swadhin in the chair, its General Secretary Sheikh Asif Hossain moderated the post-procession students’ rally addressed by leaders of the organisation.
The BCL leaders and activists observed one-minute silence in the post- procession students’ rallies to pay respect to the 20 hostages, who were assassinated by the militants at Holey Artisan Restaurant in the capital on Friday night.
They also condoled the tragic death of the 20 innocent and unarmed citizens and conveyed their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family members. In their speeches, the BCL leaders demanded immediate arrests and exemplary punishments to the BNP-Jamaat-backed terrorists and militants to stop their anarchy and subversive activities in the country. They demanded immediate arrests and execution of Jama’atul Mujaheedin Bangladesh leader Khaled Safiullah and members of all militant organisations to free the country from the evil design of the anti-liberation forces.
