A local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) was shot to death by miscreants at Amani Laxmipur village in Sadar upazila early Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Mamunur Rashid, former
vice-president of Chandra union unit of BCL, the student wing of the ruling party Awami League, and son of Abu Taiab of the village.
Police said, a gang of miscreants intercepted Mamunur Rashid’s motorbike near his house in the area while he was returning home at about 11:30 pm.
At one stage, they opened fire at Rashid and fled the scene, leaving him critically injured.
