A Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Rajshahi on Sunday passed an order of 9-day remand of a BCL leader of Rajshahi University (RU) Unit.
The accused BCL leader was identified as Delower Hossain alias Dels, a RU unit vice president of BCL and also a masters’ student of Rajshahi University.
Earlier on Wednesday, Police arrested Dels from Veripara Moore of the city in connection with Sunday’s violence and produced before court.
Court sources said, Magistrate Sharmin Sultana passed the remand order for seven days at 1:30pm after hearing.
GM Shamsur Nur, Officer-in-Charge of Motihar police station told that the two investigation officers (IO) of Motihar Police station Assistant Sub-Inspectors (ASI) Momen Sarker and Ali Uddin Akber respectively applied for seven days remand on Wednesday in each four cases which were filed by the university administration and Police following Sundays’-violence on the campus.
Later, he was shown arrest in four cases-two were filed by RU authorities and two others by Police.
In several TV footages, it was found that Dels was throwing stones at the agitating students.
However, none of the gun-toting BCL leaders has been arrested yet. On Sunday, police arrested Sajeeb Ahmed, a student of finance and banking department in connection with the violence. He was also shown arrested in four cases.
