Police operating drives in different areas on Wednesday noon arrested Shaon Haoladar, Gournadi upazila BCL convening committee member and contractor, accused for leading attacking and damaging houses and temple of Hindu community at Donarkandi under Gournadi upazila of Barisal on Monday night. With him total five including Titu Mridha, Saiful Islam, Harun Molla and Kamrul Sardar, BCL and Jubo League activists, arrested in this connection till this report.
Abul Kalam, Gournadi police station officer- in -charge, said a police team led by him arrested Shaon from a house at Sadar Road area of Barisal city about 1:00 pm Wednesday.
Police placed the arrestee to judicial magistrate court in Barisal with a prayer of five-day remand for interrogation, said Sub Inspector Harunor Rashid, investigation officer of the case.
Mustafizur Rahman, magistrate of the court, fixed date of hearing for remand prayer on Sunday next, said Anwar Hossain, GRO of the court.
Mentionable 7 houses, 1 temple and 6 worship rooms (Thakur Ghar) of minority Hindu community vandalised and 13 injured in minority Hindu community populated Donarkandi village of Dashar area under Gournadi upazila of Barisal district on Monday night.
Abinash Sarkar, president of the Donarkandi government primary school managing committee, as complainant lodged a case with Gournadi police station against 64 accused including 24 by name on Tuesday.
The incident was happened for protesting substandard works of school building construction by Shaon Haoladar, he alleged. However Syed Mahbub Alam, convener, Gournadi upazila BCL, claimed that Shaon and other attackers were not connected with BCL
District BCL secretary Abdur Razzak denying giving any comment told as case has been lodged and police started drive to arrest the real culprits , so law will take its own course and facts would be revealed in investigation.
