Two feuding factions of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Chattogram College clashed right inside the office of the principal, leaving at least four activists injured on Tuesday.
The injured are Moktar Hossain Raju, Nuruddin, Noor Teja and Imran Imon, according to police.
Nizam Uddin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chawkbazar Police Station, said there had been tension between two rival factions of BCL at the college over establishing supremacy ahead of annual sports day. One of the factions is loyal to AJM Nasir Uddin, mayor of Chattogram City Corporation, while the other is to late ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, he added.
Moktar Hossain Raju, an injured in the clash, alleged that they were attacked by followers of their rival group while they approached the college principal over some demands. Principal Prof Abul Fazal said necessary action would be taken if anyone is found responsible for the clash.
