BCL infighting hampers academic activists at CU

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Chittagong University Unit yesterday halted the Shuttle train and bus operation following a clash between the two groups at CU.
Sources said, activists of Choose Friend with Care CFC forcibly possessed a room of Suhrawardy Hall.
Which was in the possession of Bijoy group. Later activities of Bijoy group led by Eleas Hossen came to the hall and involved in a factional clash which left 5 activists injured.The injured men rescued and sent to CU Medical.
Later Leaders and activists of both group gathered in front of Suhrawardy hall with domestic weapon and threw stone eachother. A group of BCL activists abducted shuttle driver from Soloshohor Rail Station area around 8:30am on Sunday. The service has remained suspended since than though the driver was released later. No Teacher’s Bus run as miscreants put super glue on the bus lock.No classes and examination was held yesterday. CFC led by CU BCL president Rejaul Haque Rubel and Bijoy led by former Organizing Secretary Eleas are Know As the flowers of Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Deputy Minister of Education.
The injured are – Md Eleas of Islamic studies department, Obidur Rahman Limon of Islamic history and culture, Niloy Hasan of public administration, Mahfuzur Rahman of statistics, and Priyam Roy Pranto of geography.
Contracted, leader of Bijoy group Tarequal Islam, Former joint general secretary CU BCL, CFC beat up our 5 activists where the president was also present.
 We strongly condemn the incident. Our demand to the Central Chhatra League to resign Rejaul Haque from CU Unit.Otherwise, we will continue indefinite strike.
 However, BCL president Rezaul Haque Rubel denied the allegations. He said that Eleas h, Farooq and Mahfouz of the Bejay Group planned to attack us. From the very beginning of the committee they have been in trouble. They also fired shots from Alaol Hall.
 He also said that Elias was involved with the banned organization Hizbut Tahrir .
Acting Proctor Pranab Mitra Chowdhury said the train service was halted after the driver was abducted following the clash between CFC and Bijoy group. Now the situation is under control.
