At least 8 injured in factional clash of BCL rival groups , student front of ruling Awami League, at Gournadi Government College campus on Sunday noon.
The injured BCL activists were : Sabbir Hossain, 19, Razu, 18, Sajal, 19, Jarif, 17 of the BCL faction led by Arif Mia , BCL leader and former games secretary of Gournadi College students union and Manik Bepari, Imon, 17, activists of BCL faction led by rival Sagar Sardar Smarat, upzila BCL leader.
Two pedestrians also injured after the hour long clash from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM spread from campus to adjacent Barishal-Dhaka Highway.Among the injured Manik Bepari was send to Barishal Sher -E – Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Both factions have old rivalries over controlling the campus and blamed each other for instigating the clash. Golam Sarwar, officer in charge of Gournadi police station, said, police rushed to the spot controlled the situation and sent one of the injured to Barishal SBMCH. Till this report no case was lodged in this connection, police sources added.
