A sporadic clash in between two factions of Chhatra League broke out at Shaheed Minar area in city centring the observation of founding anniversary programmes of Bangladesh Chhatra League yesterday.
The clash happened between the BCL activists of City College unit and MES College Unit at about 1 pm in front of the President of city Awami League and former Mlayor Abm Mohiuddin Chowdhury.
Eye witnesses sources said following the blasts of fire works by the students of City College in the anniversary programes, the students of MES college protested them which turns scuffle and chase, counter chaste between them.
The situation was tensed on the spot for about 30 minutes and the nearby shoppers and pedestrians became panicked.
Officer in-Charge of Kotwali thana Jasimuddin told that the altercations and scuffle occurred between the senior, junior activists and later becam calm following the intervention of the senior Awami League leaders.
