Amit Saha, one of the 19 suspects held over Abrar Fahad murder, has been expelled from his post in the Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) BUET (Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology) unit.
Amit was the Deputy Law Affairs Secretary of BUET Chhatra League unit.
The BCL Executive body announced the expulsion in a press release on Monday.
Earlier, the BCL expelled as many as 11 of its members permanently from the organization for their alleged involvement in the murder.
On October 10, the Detective Branch (DB) of Police detained Amit from a house at the capital’s Sabujbagh area.
On Oct 7, Abrar, a second-year student of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department of the University was beaten to death.
Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah filed a murder case against 19 people with the capital’s Chawkbazar police on October 7.
The killing of Abrar sparked protest across the country with protesters demanding justice for Abrar and capital punishment for the murderers.
The BUET authorities also banned the activities of all political student bodies on the campus amid the student protest.
