Cadres of Bangladesh Chhatra League, student front of ruling Awami League, attacked a student mess of rival Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, student front of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, near the Barisal University campus in the city on Tuesday morning.
Abdul Qaium, BU student of third-year at Sociology, was injured in that attack and study materials of the mess were damaged.
BCL cadres on Tuesday noon also brought out procession in the campus supporting the action of the BU authourity.
The BU authourity on Monday holding meeting of the academic council declared expulsion of six students till further order and formed a new probe committee to investigate within next four weeks about the attack on register office and injuring 4 officials and staffs on June 5.
Sajjad Hossain, a student of Mathematics department of BU, as eye witness said general students planned to hold agitation rally and human chain at the campus on Tuesday protesting the expulsion order.
To foil that agitation programme by creating panic and supporting the action of BU authourity, the BCL cadres done the atrocities of attacking students mess, Sajjad Hossain told.
After visiting the BU temporary campus at Barisal Zila School premises, the situation found as tensed and the BCL cadres taking control of the campus holding processions supporting action of the BU authourity and chanting slogans against Jamaat-Shibir activists.
