At least three journalists were injured on Monday as the leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi College unit attacked the office of Reporters Unity of the College on the pretext of not displaying the pictures of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the office.
They beat up three journalists – Mim Obaidullah, general secretary, Babor Mahmud, office secretary and Mofazzol Hossain, executive member of the Reporters Unity and vandalised the office.
The members of the Reporters Unity said earlier on Sunday, Rasik Dutta, joint general secretary of Rajshahi BCL along with his accomplices asked them to hang the pictures of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister in their office.
Later on Monday morning, the ruling party backed-BCL’s men came again at the Reporter’s Unity office and became agitated when they found no picture of Bangabandhu and Prime Minister were yet displayed there, the journalists added.
After the attack, the journalists demonstrated in front of the administration building of the college protesting it.
Later, Rajshahi College principal Prof Habibur Rahman settled the issued after arranging a meeting between the BCL and journalists.
