Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, students wing of ruling Awami League, on early Thursday constructing wall blocked road inside Barisal Sher- e- Bangla Medical College campus crossing front of the female students hostel in the name of preventing eve-teasing.
Due to this hundreds of people facing problem of running one kilometer more for going to the emergency ward, Barisal Metropolitan Police and Water Development offices.
Md. Forkan, a BCL leader of SBMC unit, said after receiving allegations from the female students of the college, one of the stalker handed over to police Tuesday.
Then we deciding to control passing of outsiders in front of the female students hostel, constructed the wall to prevent eve-teasing.
However, Arif, one of the general students, said blocking the road will obstruct regular patrol of law enforcers as well as mass people will bound to move one kilometer more distance and suffer to cross the campus.
Bidhan Chandra Majumdar, assistant engineer in charge of Public Works Department unit at SBMCH campus, said after hearing the news he visited the spot and blocking this public road was done without any permission from PWD.
However, SBMC authority should officially inform us for taking proper legal step, the PWD official told.
Dr. Bhaskar Saha, principal SBMC, said now tensed situation prevailing about preventing teasing of the female students residing at the hostel.
After normalise the situation we will talk every body concerned with preventing eve-teasing and controlling tress passing inside campus, the SBMC principal added.
