BCL activists confess to killing Saad

The detained Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists, Bangladesh Agricultural University unit, have confessed to killing a student of the university.
The campus unit Chhatra League Organising Secretary Sujoy Kumar Kundu, activists Ashraful Haque and Rokonuzzaman Rokon gave their confessional statements on Thursday.
They have been sent to prison after the statements were recorded. No request for remand was filed.
Magistrate Farzana Yeasmin recorded the statements under section 164 after they were produced to a Mymensingh court in the afternoon.
Saad Ibne Mamtaz, a fourth year fisheries department student and hall unit Chhatra League leader, was killed on Tuesday over internal feud.
Mymensingh Kotwali police arrested Chhatra League leader Sujoy Kumar, activists Ashraful Haque and Rokonuzzaman from around 8:30pm on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, students continued demonstrations on campus on Thursday in protest against the killing and demanding punishment to the killers of Saad.
They boycotted classes and examinations and staged a sit-in demonstration near the residence of BAU Vice Chancellor Professor Mohammad Rafiqul Hoque.
Chhatra League also held a rally on the campus in the morning demanding punishment to the “real killers” after a proper investigation.
