The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the shortlisted names of 12 players for the second ODI against Windies to be played in Vishakapatnam today. Following a clean sweep in Test series, Indians have started the five match ODI series against Windies on a winning note as India won the game by 8 wickets with the tons from Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
BCCI has introduced a new tradition of announcing a shortlist of players ahead of each games so far in the tour. Likewise BCCI has revealed the 12-man squad for the second ODI in official twitter handle.
The squad is same as the one that was announced ahead of the first ODI. The batting department looks completely strong because of the performance from the top order. But the answer for the no.4 slot position remains as a question as Rayudu didn’t spend enough time on the crease during first ODI. Even though India won the game in Guwahati, their bowling was not upto the level as they conceded 322 in Windies innings. Main problem was the absence of sixth bowler in the team as Kohli came up with only four pure bowlers and one all-rounder.
This might make a change in the playing XI as Kuldeep Yadav might get a game. But where to include Kuldeep will be a big question for Kohli. There are some probabilities to go with three spinners and two seamers as seamers were quite expensive in Guwahati.
India 12-man squad for 2nd ODI
Virat Kohli (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Khaleel Ahmed.
