Sports Reporter :Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI defeated the touring Zimbabwe by 88 runs in the lone practice one-dayer at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.Sent into bat first, BCB XI piled up a healthy 282 in 50 overs and then they bowled out Zimbabwe for 194 off 45.3 overs.BCB XI made a shaky start as they lost their early three wickets for 51 runs.Then Shamsur Rahman and Sabbir Rahman repaired the early damage adding together 60 runs for the fourth wicket partnership before Sabbir Rahman was trapped leg before wicket by John Nyumbu when the hosts total was 111 for the loss of four wickets.After dismissal of Sabbir Rahman, Shamsur Rahman could stay at the for a short time as he was trapped leg before wicket by John Nyumbu when Bangladesh’s score was 118 for the loss of five wickets.Shamsur Rahman hit a fine 49 from 77 balls including five shots through the ropes.After departure of Shamsur Rahman, Nasir Hossain and Shuvagata Hom contributed 94 runs for the sixth wicket partnership before Shuvagata Hom was caught behind by wicketkeeper PJ Moor when the hosts total was 212 for the loss of six wickets.Nasir Hossain was the day’s most successful batsman. He notched up a superb 61 from 62 balls including two sixers and three fours before he was cleanly bowled out by Vusi Sibanda when Bangladesh’s score was 249 for the loss of seven wickets.Shuvagata Hom hit a polished 40 off 43 balls amid four fours.Abul Hasan and Sabbir Rahman added 33 and 22 runs respectively to the BCB XI total.Vusi Sibanda was the peak of the Zimbabweans bowlers who captured four wickets at the cost of 44 runs.N Madziva and John Nyumbu bagged a pair of wickets each for 22 and 40 runs respectively.Later, T Maruma, Sikandar Reza and Brendan Taylor were the three batsmen who fought back against BCB XI bowling attack.T Maruma hit an exact 50 from 79 balls with four fours while Sikandar Reza made a notable 44 off 43 balls including three fours.Brendan Taylor added 28 runs to the visitors total.Sabbir Rahman, Shafiul Islam, Md Shahid and Abul Hasan captured two wickets each for 23, 24, 25 and 53 runs respectively.Besides, Nasir Hossain and Muktar Ali got one wicket each instead of 23 and 26 runs respectively.
