Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) advised Shakib Al Hasan to be fresh and fit for the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup by managing his workload in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Shakib who is currently in rehab to get him fully from the finger injury, has recently got the clearance to play the IPL, considered as the most cash-rich and glamorous domestic cricket tournament.
“I don’t think there should be any restriction regarding the participation in the IPL because if a player is fit he can go and play. But he must remember that he needs to make sure that he doesn’t get injured. We have given the clearance to play in IPL,” BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus said here today.
The ace all-rounder was ruled out of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand and the following three-match Test series after sustaining a finger injury during the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final on February 9.
He was supposed to play the third Test against New Zealand but the possibility was dented as he is given further 10 day’s rest by the BCB medical team following the assessment of his condition on March 10.
“He is recovering but still he is given 10 days rest.
