AGM held: BCB spent Tk 693 crore in 3yrs

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was held at the Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, in the city on Thursday. A total of 120 councilors took part in the AGM. President of the BCB Nazmul Hassan Papon presided over the AGM.
The audit reports of 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 fiscal years were approved by the councilors in the AGM. Besides, the budget of the 2020-2021 was also approved in the AGM. Earlier, the AGM was scheduled to held on July 27. But due to coronavirus situation of the country the AGM was not held that time.
After the AGM, President of the BCB Nazmul Hassan Papon spoke at a press conference at the same venue.
Papon said, ” We approved the all agendas unanimously. The successes of BCB was presented in the AGM. Besides, we have developed the infrastructure of Bangladesh’s cricket. Our respective committee are playing a key role to make a pipeline for the national team. Allover we have passed a positive time.”
He said, ” Our players got success in the last three years. Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team won Asia Cup. The players have also got consecutive success. Our great success was Bangladesh Youth Cricket team clinched the ICC World Under-19 Cricket title.”
The Board President said, ” We have started our zonal cricket activities in Chittagong district and Sylhet district as part of our pilot project. But we could not fulfill our target cent percent. It was our failure. We shall form zonal cricket associations in all districts.”
He said, “We have spend a lot of time for cricket. When Jalal Bhai went to New Zealand as a Team Leader of Bangladesh team, I talked to him over mobile phone in the morning. When Bobby Bhai went to Zimbabwe as a Team Leader, I also talked to him over telephone. Even I have discussed with the Board Members during breakfast. Originally Cricket is taking to much time.”
In the last four years, the BCB has not been able to hold an AGM once. The accumulated audit reports for 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 fiscal years were approved by the AGM on Thursday. It is learned that in the last three financial years, BCB spent Tk 693 crore. According to the report of the Chief Finance Officer, in the financial year 2020-21, the expenditure was approximately Tk 204 crore. BCB has approved it at the AGM. In all, the figure stands at Tk 897 crore approx.
