A security team of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is likely to visit Pakistan next week to see for itself the security aspects ahead of a proposed tour of Bangladesh National Women’s cricket team there, probably in October.
“Our security team will visit Pakistan and it would not be more than a two-member delegation,” BCB chief executive officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury said on Wednesday.
The CEO informed that the BCB asked their counterparts for due process and the departure date of the security team will be confirmed in a day or two.
Earlier, in the last week, BCB president Nazmul Hassan told that the security inspection would be the second step in the process for the proposed tour as Pakistan Cricket Board had already sent a letter to the Bangladesh High Commission in Pakistan for understanding of security situation.
“They (PCB) have sent us a proposal, we’re thinking about it. There’re a lot of factors left, even if everything is okay and the Women’s team agrees to go. So it is still quite away (from being finalised),” BCB official said.
The series has been seen a possibility since PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan visited Bangladesh last year.
A security team from the BCB had visited Pakistan in March 2012 but the proposed tour for the men’s team in April was postponed for more than two years.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan cricket team captain Wasim Akram has been shot at during his traveling in car to the National Stadium in Karachi on Wednesday while BCB is thinking to send a security team in Pakistan.
