The BCB Physically Challenged Cricket team and National Cricketers played a friendly cricket match at the BCB National Cricket Academy ground in Mirpur on Tuesday.
The 10-over friendship match was held to raise awareness for the people with disabilities. Jointly organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), the match for physically challenged is believed to boost the confidence of the players of the BCB Physically Challenged Cricket team, ICRC said in a press release.
Winning the toss, the team comprising national cricketers sent the BCB Physically Challenged Team to bat first. Losing 5 wickets, the BCB Physically Challenged Cricket team scored 122 in 10 overs.
The team of national cricketers won the match by chasing the target in the last ball of 10th over while losing only one wicket. Renowned cricketers like Mohammad Ashraful and Abdur Razzak along with others participated in this friendly cricket match to raise awareness.
A short closing ceremony was held to hand over crest to the participating players where ICRC Bangladesh Deputy Head of Delegation Abdul Latif Mbacke and BCB Game Development Manager AEM Kawsar were present among others.
In August this year, the BCB Physically Challenged Cricket team will travel to the UK to play in a five-nation Physical Disability World Series, organized by the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The learning and experience gained from this interaction with the seasoned cricketers of the Bangladesh team has further motivated the physically challenged cricketers to represent Bangladesh at international level.
