Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) was not aware of Shakib Al Hasan’s personal tour of Cox’s Bazar for commercial shoot.
“But, BCB was aware of the Shakib’s contract with an advertising firm but didn’t know anything about his journey earlier…now we’ve been closely monitoring the situation,”
BCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Nizamuddin Chowdhury told UNB on Saturday.
“Players were on (Eid) vacation, while the Board was closed. So, BCB didn’t know anything about Shakib’s Cox’s Bazar tour. We’ll discuss tour safety with our cricketers to make them cautious,” he said.
“Cricketers are national assets and they’re the representatives of the nation. They should not forget about it,” Nizamuddin added.
BCB media manager Rabeed Imam said, “We were aware of Shakib’s contract but he was not bound to inform the BCB about his personal tour.”
National cricketer Shakib Al Hasan escaped a possible tragedy as the helicopter that dropped him at Inani beach in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar district crashed during its return journey on Friday.
The helicopter crashed near Rizu Khal in Ukhiya upazila around 10:15 am leaving a man dead and four others injured.
