Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to lift the ban on pacer Shahdat Hossain.
Earlier, BCB temporarily has suspended Shahadat Hossain for beating his house worker.
BCB on Monday in a board meeting decided to withdraw the suspension of Shahadat. BCB took this decision under the consideration of humanitarian ground.
Chairman of the Media Committee of BCB Jalal Younus said, ” BCB sent a letter to Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) to uplift the ban of Shahadat. Earlier, Hossain applied to BCB to withdraw his suspension. BCB decided to consider him.”
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury said, “The BCB’s disciplinary committee has taken the decision to withdraw the playing ban on Shahadat from humanitarian considerations following an appeal by the player. The ruling, effective from today, is applicable for participation in domestic cricket only. He however, will not be considered for national team selection until his legal issues are settled.”
Shahadat Hossain said, ” I feel very happy now. I am thanking BCB to consider my matter. If everything goes well, I shall play in the Dhaka Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League.”
Shahadat cannot play in the League immediately. He has to pass in the fitness test. If he proves that he is cent percent fit, then he will take part in the ensuing League.
