BCB HP camp begins

Eying to build up cricketers for the national team, Bangladesh Cricket Board started its High Performance (HP) training camp for 2016-17 at National Cricket Academy in Mirpur on Sunday.
Selected 25-players for HP camp began their nine-week long training, split in two groups, with fitness test on the first day and the youngsters were much exited getting chance to take part in this camp.
Mohammad Saif Hasan, a 17-years-old boy, who performed for Bangladesh Under-19 team and recorded a century against Zimbabwe in a four-match Youth ODI series in November 2015, considered this camp as a way of building future as a cricketer.
“We will go through the training around two months under the experienced coaches, there are some senior players with us too, they will share their experiences, all these things we will get, will guide us in future,” Saif said.
Nur Hossain Munna got chance in the HP squad as there is shortage of leg-spinners in the national team. Munna wants to utilise this opportunity properly. “Leg-spin bowling is so tough; hope this training will give many lessons.”
The camp began under the supervision of BCB’s National Game Development manager Nazmul Abedin Fahim along with five local coaches.
HP programme chairman and BCB Vice-president Mahbubul Anam said, “The aim of this programme is to prepare players for the national team, we are thinking to bring some foreign cricket experts, we can include anything as par the necessity of this programme.
Anam was talking to media ahead of the beginning of the campat National Cricket Academy.
However, the camp began without the HP programme head coach Simon Helmot as the 44-year old Australian is currently busy with his assignment for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel T20 team in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Helmot is expected to join the camp in the first week of August. He was appointed as the head coach of BCB HP on June 11.
The selected cricketers comprise three top-order batsmen, six middle-order batsmen, four spin bowlers, three all-rounders, seven pace bowlers and two wicket keepers.
The 25 selected cricketers are: Shadman Islam, Mehedy Hassan Maruf and Abdul Majid (top-order batsmen), Mehedy Hassan Miraz, Mohammad Saif Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mohammad Al-Amin Jr, Tasamul Haque Rubel and Salman Hossain Emon (middle order batsman), Sanjamul Islam, Nur Hossain Munna, Tanvir Haider Khan and Saqlain Sajib (spin bowler), Mehedy Hassan, Mohammad Saif Uddin and Alauddin Babu (all-rounder), Mohammad Ashikuzzaman, Mehedy Hasan Rana, Shuvashis Roy, Noor Alam Saddam, Abu Hider Rony, Dewan Shabbir Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury (pace bowler), Irfan Shukkur and Zakir Hasan (wicket-keeper).
