Bangladesh Cricket Board’s outgoing president Nazmul Hassan announced on Tuesday that he would not have any panel in the upcoming board of directors’ election, scheduled for October 6.
The announcement made it clear that the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) election will be free and fair as Nazmul insisted that any councilor can contest for the post of directors in the upcoming election.
Nazmul said that he will be more than happy if he sees anyone coming up and challenging him in the post of BCB president after they are elected as directors in the upcoming election. ”I won’t have any panel,” Nazmul told the reporters after completing the last board meeting of his third term as president.
”I told you earlier that this election will be different and probably for the first time there will be no panel of mine and anyone can contest because there will be election and whoever wins can come in the board,” he said. ”If I win I will come in the board as a director and after that my first request will be I don’t want to be BCB president but I am there to back them( in the board) but I don’t know what will happened next,” he said.
”Every time there is a panel and after announcing the panel no one seems to be interested in contesting the election but now no one can claim that he is my candidate and I am expecting an election,” he said.
”When the panel is announced no one comes forward and as a result everyone is elected unopposed but I want a election open for all,” he said.
”If I stay in BCB what I feel is that no one will challenge me for the president post until I die and that is not a good thing. But I expect whoever comes to the board should challenge me ( in the post of president),” he said.
”Whoever comes to the board should challenge me and someone should say that he wants to be the president but no one says that and that is not a good sign because nothing stops for anyone,” he said.
