The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday congratulated the newly elected International Cricket Council (ICC) president AHM Mustafa Kamal MP and the new chairman Narayanaswami Srinivasan.
Mustafa Kamal is the first Bangladeshi to be elected to the prestigious position of ICC.
BCB President Nazmul Hassan MP said it was a proud moment for everyone associated with Bangladesh cricket: “Today is a momentous occasion because for the first time we have a Bangladeshi as ICC President. This is an honour for the nation.”
“He is a man of cricket and his affection for the game is undying. I am sure the ICC, Bangladesh and the global cricket fraternity would benefit from Mr Kamal’s enterprise and dedication” Nazmul Hassan added.
Hassan also said that Mr Srinivasan’s dynamism and vision would significantly contribute to the betterment of international cricket: “On behalf of the BCB and the Directors of the Board, I would like to convey our warmest wishes to Mr Srinivasan. His passion and drive for the cause of cricket and his experience make him a most deserving candidate for this challenging role.
Mustafa Kamal replaced Alan Raymond Isaac as president, while the chairman was elected by the declaration of ICC’s Memorandum and Articles of Association at the Annual Conference in Melbourne, Australia on Thursday.
