The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed deep shock at the death of Australian Test batsman Phillip Hughes, who passed away on Thursday.
The 25-year-old cricket sustained injury while playing a first class match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday. The president and directors of the BCB extends most sincere sympathies to the family of Hughes in this sorrowful time.
Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim in a message said, “Phillip Hughes was an embodiment of the fighting spirit and the world of cricket will miss him. The news has come as a terrible shock. Our thoughts are with Phillip’s family, friends and the Australian cricket fraternity. May his soul rest in peace.”
To mark of respect to Phillip Hughes, the Bangladesh and Zimbabwe teams will observe a minute’s silence prior to the start of tomorrow’s 4th one day international at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium wearing black arm bands, said a BCB press release.
