The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Tuesday the 15-member Bangladesh squad for the upcoming first T20 I against Sri Lanka. The first T20 I will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on February 15.
Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the Twenty20 squad of Bangladesh in absence of world-class all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. Shakib Al Hasan could not take part in the forthcoming first T20 I against Sri Lanka due to injury. Shakib got injury in his left finger during the Tri-Nation ODI series. As Shakib Al Hasan was injured he could not participate in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka.
Uncapped left-arm spinner Nazmul Islam Apu has been called in the squad. Apu will be the replacement of Shakib Al Hasan.
The players, who have been chosen, are: Mahmudullah Riyad (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Abu Hider, Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Zakir Hasan, Afif Hossain and Nazmul Islam Apu.
