The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Tuesday announced the squad for the Emerging Teams Asia Cup Bangladesh 2017, said a BCB press release today.
Top order batsman Mominul Haque made captain of the Bangladesh team while allrounder Nasir Hossin made his deputy.
Emerging teams Asia Cup Bangladesh 2017 will begin from March 27 at four separate venues across the country.
Eight Asian teams, divided in two groups, will compete in the first phase of the tournament in four venues of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar — Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium (ZACS) and MA Aziz Stadium (MAAS) in Chittagong, and Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS)-1 and SKICS-2 in Cox’s Bazar.
Four Test playing countries of Asia representing under-23 team along with four more countries – Afghanistan, Nepal, Hong Kong and Malaysia – will take part in the tournament.
The matches will be held in one-day format and maximum four national team’s players will be allowed to play for the Test playing countries. Bangladesh will start their tournament campaign taking on Hong Kong in one of the opening day’s fixture to be held at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium (SKICS) in Cox’s Bazar.
In the remaining matches, Bangladesh will play against Nepal on March 28 and face Pakistan on March 30 both at SKICS in Cox’s Bazar.
All the group phase matches will begin at 9 am while the final of the tournament is slated on April 3 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong at 2 pm.
The participating teams are: Group A-India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Malaysia, Group B -Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hong Kong and Nepal.
