BCB announces 16-member Test squad for Zimbabwe

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Sunday the 16-member Bangladesh Test squad for the lone Test against Zimbabwe. The Test will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur from February 22 to February 26.
Dashing opener Soumya Sarkar has taken leisure for his marriage ceremony. Pacer Al-Amin has been ruled out from the squad due to injury.
Middle-order batsman Mahmudullah Riyad and right-arm pacer Rubel Hossain have been dropped from the squad.
Mominul Haque has retained his post in the squad as Captain.
All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz and right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed and left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman have been recalled in the squad. Taskin Ahmed bowled consistent bowling in the BBPL and also BCL. Cutter Master Mustafizur Rahman showed a consistent bowling performance in the ongoing BCL.
Prolific batsman and ace wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim has been returned to the squad. Mushfiqur Rahim was the second highest scorer in the recently concluded Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL) Twenty20 cricket. In-form Mushfiqur Rahim scored 43 and 64 against India in Indore. The wicketkeeper-batsman made 74 against India in Kolkata Test.
Right-arm pacer Hasan Mahmud and middle-order batsman Yasir Ali Rabbi have been called in the squad for the first time.
Pacer Hasan Mahmud played for Dhaka Platoon in the BBPL and showed a gimmick performance. Besides, he bowled really well in the ongoing BCL.
Yasir Ali hit a century for East Zone against North Zone in the ongoing BCL.
The players, who have been chosen, are: Mominul Haque (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Saif Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Liton Das, Taijul Islam, Abu Jayed, Nayeem Hasan, Ebadot Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud and Yasir Ali.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe squad arrived in the city on Saturday last to play the lone Test match against Bangladesh team.
