The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Saturday the 15-member squad for the first Twenty20 International Cricket match against Sri Lanka. The first T20 I match will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the city’s Mirpur on February 15.
World-class all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who could not take part in the two-Test series against Sri Lanka due to injury, will lead the Bangladesh T20 I squad against Sri Lanka.
Abu Jayed, Ariful Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Zakir Hossain, Afif Hossain have been included in the squad for the first time. Besides, Abu Hider has been recalled in the squad after two years.
Imrul Kayes, Liton Das, Nasir Hossain, Mehdi Hasan Miraz, Mominul Haque, Taskin Ahmed and Shafiul Islam were dropped from the squad.
The cricketers, who have been chosen, are: Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin, Abu Jayed, Afif Hossain, Zakir Hossain, Ariful Haque, Mehedi Hasan, Abu Hider.
The second T20 I will be held at Sylhet International Stadium in Sylhet on February 18.
