BCB announces 15-member squad for India Test

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Wednesday the 15-member squad for the upcoming India Test. Chief Selector of BCB Minhajul Abadin Nannu announced the Bangladesh National Cricket squad at the conference room of Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Head Coach of Bangladesh National Cricket team Chandika Hathurusingha answered the questions of the newsmen. Selector Habibul Bashar, Selector Sajjad Ahmed Shipon and Media Manager of BCB Rabeed Imam were present at the time.
Bangladesh National Cricket team will leave the city today for India to take part in the lone Test match. The match will be held at Hyderabad in India on February 9 to 13.
Besides, Bangladesh team will play a lone warm-up match against India-A team on February 5 to 6 at Secunderabad in India.
The cricketers, who have been selected, are: Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan (Vice-Captain), Mahmudullah Riyad, Sabbir Rahman, Taijul Islam, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Liton Kumar Das, Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam and Shubashis Roy.
When asked about ‘Wonder Boy’ Mustafizur Rahman, Minhajul Abedin said, ” Mustafizur Rahman is totally fit. But we do not want to take any risk as the ‘ Cutter Boy’ have to give extra effort in longer version cricket which may create injury for him.”
Abedin said, ” Pacer Shafiul Islam was injured during the outgoing New Zealand series. So, Rubel Hossain was the replacement of him. Now Shafiul Islam is totally fit. Thus Shafiul Islam has been included in the squad.”
Nannu said, ” During the Test matches against New Zealand, We felt absence of Mushfiqur’s batting. He is one of the batting genius of Bangladesh.”
Chandika Hathurusingha said, ” We feel to play against India is a tough task. India are stronger than us.”
Hathurusingha said, ” I hope the players will perform after mind set in the game. They will also be attentive to select the appropriate shot.”
He said, ” India have world class spinners. Specially Ravichandran Ashwin is a great spinner.”
The Head Coach said, ” We have also good spinners. Shakib Al Hasan, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan Miraz are effective bowlers.”
He said, ” It is tough task to predict about the result against India in the lone Test match.”
