The BBC’s director of news and current affairs is to step down from her role next year, it has been announced.
Fran Unsworth, who took up the role in 2018, will leave at the end of January 2022.

“It has been a great privilege.”
She added: “The jobs I’ve done have not always been easy. Undoubtedly, some were more fun than others. Our bosses are the audiences we serve. I am honoured to have been be part of it.”
Ms Unsworth has worked at the BBC for over 40 years, starting her career with Radio 1 in 1980.
