B’baria ex-UP chairman sued for forgery

Six cases have been filed againsta former union parishad chairman of Sadar upazila for embezzling money in the name of providing gas connections to customers.
The accused, Md. Hossain Mia, was elected chairman of Natai Dakhshin union parishad several times.
According to court sources, the cases were filed with Brahmanbaria chief judicial magistrate court on October 4 against four people including Hossain Miah.
He was made prime accused in the cases.
The other accused in the cases are Shamim Mia, son of late Abdul Quddus, Farid Mia, son of Kalam Uddin and Mohammad Sohel Mia, son of Hossain Mia.
Advocate Swapan Ahmed, lawyer of the plaintiffs in the case, told reporters that the accused had embezzled huge money from people in the area in the name of providing gas connections.
Following the plaintiff’s allegations, the court took cognizance of the cases and directed the Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station to investigate it and take further action.
Abdur Rahim, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station said, “The papers of the cases are yet to be received.”
They will investigate the allegation as soon as they find the papers, said the OC.
