Bangladesh Bank (BB) has relaxed restriction on the foreign currency quota for the outgoing Bangladeshi people wishing to visit countries by availing port entry facility or on arrival visa.
Currently, a number of countries offer port entry or visa on arrival to the Bangladeshi travellers, particularly the people who hold official passports. Such travellers, however, are allowed to endorse only $200 for the visit whereas the annual travel quota is now $5000 for SARC and $7000 for non-SACRC countries.
The central bank in a directive on Tuesday said that from now on all the overseas going Bangladeshi could endorse the same amount or the unused amount of their annual foreign currency quota for visiting countries on port entry or on arrival visa.
The central bank, however, instructed all the foreign exchange dealers for ensuring proper use of the foreign exchange before subsequent endorsements.
