Bangladesh Bank (BB) has taken additional cautionary measures to make mobile banking a foolproof system for financial transaction.
The central bank on Tuesday in a circular asked all banks to take immediate steps to get re-registered or registered of the SIMs of their mobile banking clients to tally all the relevant information with the KYC (know your client) records of the respective persons.
“The steps have been taken to check erratic transactions and lessen of risk money laundering through mobile banking”, BB said in the circular.
The hard copies of the re-registration or registration should be collected through the agents of the respective banks, and the information of the re-registration or registration should be verified through the respective mobile operators, BB said.
The banks, operating mobile banking, also asked to report to BB by September 30 after taking all steps accordingly.
The central bank, however, suspended its earlier decision of taking photograph of the client who wants to cash-in or cash-out of Taka 5,000 and above.
