Bangladesh Bank governor Dr Atiur Rahman on Wednesday stressed the need for formulating a gender-sensitive, and environment -and development-friendly national budget.
“A budget is very important for our nation, family and personal life. The national budget should be gender-sensitive, and environment -and development-friendly which we saw in recent years,” he said.
The central bank governor made the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the Centre on Budget and Policy, a newly established research centre of Dhaka University, at Nawab Nabab Ali Chowdhruy Senate Bahabn on the campus.
Dr Atiur said the development planning of a government is reflected in its national budget and if a government can draw proper planning in its budget, country’s sustainable development will be ensured.
Speaking on the occasion, DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddque said education is a must for the country’s sustainable development.
