Bangladesh Bank’s Executive Director Shuvangkar Saha on Tuesday offered unconditional apology in the High Court (HC) for distorting history in a book titled “Bangladesh Bank-er Itihash” (History of Bangladesh Bank).
Shuvangkar, the Editor of the book as well, appeared in the court and said that he had made a mistake by not publishing the picture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the book.
The court, however, did not pardon him and asked him to appear in the court within one week after the vacation.
The court will go on an annual vacation from March 15 and will reopen on March 31.
The court asked Shuvangkar Saha to submit a report in the court on the steps taken for confiscating the book from the market and stopping its further publication.

“The book did not contain any picture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” the petition said.

On that day, the HC also summoned Shuvangkar Saha, Editor of the book and former Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank, to appear in the court on March 12 to explain about the distortion of history in the book.
The HC on October 2 last year directed the Finance Secretary to form a probe committee to inquire into the distortion of history in the book titled “Bangladesh Bank-er Itihas”.
