The central bank has asked the scheduled banks to keep their card-based transactions open 24/7 on the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays for the benefit of consumers.
Bangladesh Bank issued a circular to this effect on Tuesday directing the banks to ensure uninterrupted service through ATM booths, POS machines, and e-payment gateways during the holidays.
It also asked the banks to keep sufficient money at their ATM booths during this period to enable clients to withdraw money.
The banks will have to stick notice in front of the closed and obsolete ATM booths.
They should immediately notify their clients if any ATM and POS facility has to be shut for any unavoidable reason, it said.
Cautionary messages will have to be publicised in the media for transactions in e-payment gateways.
