BAUTA forms human chain protesting new pay scale

Bangladesh Agricultural University Teachers Association (BAUTA) formed a human chain on Sunday protesting the 8th pay scale and demanded an independent pay scale for the university teachers immediately.
Terming the proposed pay scales as discriminatory for the university teachers BAUTA has been observing several protest programme demanding to reform it since its announcement.
The BAU teachers at around 11:00am formed the human chain in front of central library on the campus. Conducted by the general secretary of BAUTA Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam Sarder, BAUTA president Prof Dr Khandokar Shariful Islam presided over the human chain.
In the human chain, the teachers demanded the same basic salary of the senior secretary for the senior professors of the university.
The teachers also demanded the rearrangement of the basic salary of Associate Professors, Assistant Professors and the lecturers in comparison with the Professors’ basic salary.
Mentionable, according to the proposed nation 8th pay scale, the basic salary of the cabinet secretary was doubled. But, the senior Professors’ basic salary was selected at Tk 75,000 which is below the secretary grade.
