A new university on science and technology entitled ‘Bangladesh Army University of Science and Technology’ (BAUST) was inaugurated at Saidpur Cantonment of the district yesterday.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated it as Chief Guest.
The inaugural ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Training Shed of EME Center and school of Saidpur Cantonment and later the chief guest unveiled the plaque at the university campus .
Asaduzzaman Noor said , the new university conducting under Bangladesh Army would play a vital role in near future in the field of education on science and technology in the country.
On the occasion, the entire venue was nicely decorated with colourful banners and festoons.
Register of the new university Md. Moazzem Hossain informed that in the first batch, 300 students were admitted in three departments like computer science and engineering, electric and electronic engineering and mechanical engineering.
