Baul singer Rita Dewan yesterday got bail in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.
Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad Jaglul Hossain granted the bail after Rita surrendered in the court on Wednesday morning.
Rita and two others were sued for allegedly making derogatory comments about Islam while singing at a function.
On January 31, last year, Advocate Imrul Hasan filed the case under the Digital Security Act.
Later, the court issued a warrant order after taking into account a report about the matter given by the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
PBI Inspector Mizanur Rahman submitted the report to the tribunal on October 29, last year, on the basis of finding “preliminary evidence” against the three over the charges.
